“And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed) Kid, you’ll move mountains.”

 ~ Dr. Seuss

Welcome to Young Learners Academy and thank you for the opportunity to introduce you to our family. At YLA, we recognize that it takes a village to raise a child and our goal is to be part of your village, as an extension of your family. To that end, we endeavor to provide a high-quality, integrated program, amidst an atmosphere of love and respect, where your child develops emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. We see this time as an important time in a child’s life, as they take some of the first steps toward the many successes they will enjoy and the mountains they will move in their young lives.

Co-directors Kayla Young and Amy Lundberg created the exact program that they dreamed existed for their children because that is precisely what was at stake, as they both have children who attend the school. YLA prides itself on being a school dreamed up, created, and operated by moms raising children in the community.

Young Learners Academy provides childcare and education to children ages 2 through 5. The first part of our program focuses on school readiness by introducing children to specific academic subjects, such as math, science, and phonics through teacher instruction and active student participation. The second part of our program we call our “Stay and Play” program; where children are encouraged and prompted to learn through their environment and play.  Studies show that interactive play helps bolster a child’s academic learning and the development of social-emotional skills. The balance of teacher-directed and student-directed activities throughout the day is designed to instill an early love of learning as we prepare each child to continue their education after YLA

Ultimately, we view our role as supplementing the primary role of families in providing care and guidance for their children. Our concern is not just with our relationship with each child, but also with our relationship with each of the families connected to each child. By establishing open and ongoing communication with families, we are able to strengthen the ties that connect the home with our preschool, enhance the development of children in our care, and focus on the personal needs of each child in our care. By utilizing a personalized and developmentally appropriate enrichment program, your children will foster lifelong learning habits for Young Learners' experience in early education.

Thank you for allowing us to introduce ourselves and for considering joining our family!
